During the last meeting of the 15th Government, chaired by Prime Minister of the Caretaker Government, Dr. Rami Hamdallah, the Cabinet warned Tuesday 17th September, of Israeli Government's persistence to its intransigence towards and disregard to settler groups desecrating the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Cabinet considered these daily serious incursions and violations by settler gangs with protection of occupation forces, aims to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque between Muslims and Jews, and to establish the temple at the expense of Al-Aqsa Mosque. It also warned of Israeli Jerusalem Municipality calls to organize million demonstrations in the streets of Jerusalem on the 24th of this month.
The Cabinet called on the Arab League and the Organization of the Islamic Conference to stand firmly and seriously in the face of these violations, as it called the Security Council and the International Community to exercise their powers for compelling Israel to halt all plans that defy international law.
In addition, The Cabinet strongly condemned the Israeli invasion of Jenin Refugee Camp this morning, and the shooting of Islam Tobasi (22 years old) while trying to arrest him, which caused his death and injuring 3 youths with live bullets in their legs.
In another subject, the Cabinet was briefed on the preparations for the participation at the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee meeting to be held in New York on the twenty-fifth of this month. The Cabinet also listened to a presentation of the recommendations related to a comprehensive vision on what needs to be done on the economic and developmental level to protect and strengthen the institutions of the State of Palestine and the Palestinian Economy, as part of the report to be presented at the AHLC meeting. The report also included list of measures and procedures that must be implemented by the Israeli Government, especially in regard to Palestinians living in so called "C" areas and East Jerusalem, to allow the implementation of developmental measures and requirements.
On the other hand, The Cabinet expressed its understanding of the demands of various trade unions, and expressed its pride in the spirit of high responsibility these unions are showing. The Cabinet also stressed on the government's commitment to the agreements signed with the trade unions, including the implementation of the risk premium for engineers, agronomists and veterinarians. The Cabinet assured that these issues will be dealt with according to the modified Civil Service Law, which the government seeks to release as soon as possible, since the law is in its final stages, and as soon as the financial resources for the implementation of these issues are available for the government. The Cabinet stressed the importance of continuing the dialogue within the framework of partnership and responsibility, in order to reach a state of consensus on various issues demands.
The Cabinet also heard a report from the Minister of Education and Higher Education on the development of Tawjihi exam (Palestinian High School Exam). The Cabinet gave its instructions to conduct an in-depth study for the exam with all relevant bodies to address all deficiencies, and modernize the exam system, thus alleviating the burden off the students.
The Cabinet also expressed its thanks and gratitude to King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz on his generous grant to host thousand pilgrims of Palestinian Martyrs families during Hajj season this year, for the fifth year in a row. The Cabinet expressed its appreciation for the continued support of Saudi Arabia to the Palestinian people and their cause.
