Over 100 Israeli rightists entered the al-Aqsa compound under armed guard on Monday, a religious official said.
Sheikh Azzam al-Khatib, director of Islamic endowments in Jerusalem, told Ma'an that around 152 rightists entered the area via the Mughrabi Gate for the Jewish Holiday of Sukkot.
Witnesses said that the rightists entered in separate groups and performed religious rituals in the compound, before exiting the area.
Israeli police briefly confiscated the identity cards of young Palestinian men and women entering al-Aqsa.
