Around 30 Israeli intelligence members stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Wednesday morning and attacked a Palestinian religious student, local sources reported.
They arrested both Nadi Abu Afifa and Akram al-Shurfa as they were trying to defend the religious students.
According to al-Aqsa Foundation for Waqf and Heritage, the Israeli forces wandered in the compound's yards before leaving due to loud chanting of Palestinian worshippers.
Tensions have been high in Al-Quds (occupied Jerusalem) in recent weeks with Jewish settlers -- often accompanied by Israeli security forces – storming Aqsa Mosque complex, Islam's third holiest site, on an almost daily basis.
Jews refer to Al-Aqsa as the "Temple Mount," claiming it was the site of Jewish temples in ancient times.
