FM visits Al-Aqsa Mosque, reiterates Jordan's care of holy sites
Occupied Jerusalem, Dec 24 (Petra) -- Jordan will always continue to care for the holy city of Jerusalem and its Muslim and Christian shrines and preserve its Arab identity, said Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh during a visit to Al-Aqsa Mosque on Monday.

"Jerusalem has always been and remains the focus of the Hashemite care and concern, who have been keen on continuing efforts to protect and preserve the Arab identity of the city and its religious sites," Judeh said.

The minister renewed Jordan's condemnation of any attempts to tamper with Jerusalem's current status, including Bab al-Maghariba which is an integral part of the holy compound. He also denounced Jewish extremists' storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque yards.

In press remarks following the visit, Judeh said that His Majesty King Abdullah II tasked him of visiting the holy city to follow up on the progress of Jordan's projects and initiatives to care for and protect holy shrines.

He vowed that the Kingdom will spare no effort in supporting the caretakers of holy places.
